Nick Kalavrytinos and his sons Michael, Aristomenes and Alexander, who had gained experience working in several sectors of Galvanochemics, in Greece and abroad, led by creative spirit and great enthusiasm, founded the company in 1968. In 1980 the company acquired the legal form of Societe Anonyme, under the title "KALAVRYTINOS BROS S.A. - METALCHROM"

All those years, the company has been in touch with the latest evolutions in surface and coatings technology, and made consistent efforts towards developing the necessary capabilities. Thus, today "METALCHROM" is proud to be the leader in its field in Greece, providing efficient and trustworthy services in industry and shipping.

In the last five years, the company has made changes towards reaching higher standards, by hiring new scientific personnel, purchasing new process and quality control equipment and establishing a Quality Assurance System according to EN ISO 9002 standard.

Customer satisfaction has always been one of our major concerns. Quality, along with know-how, expertise and experience, allow us to guarantee responsible advice, and the most suitable solution to problems concerning coatings and surface technology.

Our main operating equipment consists of:

  • 5 electrolytic hard chrome baths
  • 1 electroless nickel bath
  • 2 axle shaft grinding machines
  • 1 axle lathe for thermal spraying
  • 1 sand blasting cabin
  • Flame, arc and plasma spray equipment

Every single treated workpiece is tested with great attention before, during and after every process, using the latest non-destructive technology with instruments from worldwide-acknowledged manufacturers like Mitutoyo, Agfa-Krautkramer, ElektroPhysik. Measurement and testing equipment includes micrometers, magnetic induction and eddy current coating thickness measurement instruments, roughness meter, Vickers hardness tester, crack depth meter, ultrasonic flaw detector.

We are co-operating for years with many workshops, each specialized in a particular sector of machinery construction and/or reconditioning.

Furthermore, there is a long co-operation with the company Pallas GmbH & Co. KG, a fast growing company providing surface technologies, based in Aachen, Germany, and with the Physical Metallurgy Laboratory of the National Technical University of Athens, within the scope of technical support, research and development.
